A select group of Holy Cross students moved beyond the classroom and onto the world stage, competing in the highly anticipated Ethics Olympiad International Final.

After a rigorous qualifying round where Holy Cross was chosen as one of only six schools in the state to move forward, our team faced off against 51 of the most academically formidable schools from around the globe. This international event brings together the brightest young minds to engage with the most challenging moral questions of our time.

What is the Ethics Olympiad?

The Ethics Olympiad is a unique competitive experience that prioritizes critical thinking over aggressive rhetoric. Unlike traditional debating—where the goal is often to defeat an opponent—the Ethics Olympiad is a collaborative “think-off.”

Students are presented with complex real-world dilemmas and are judged on their ability to:

  • Analyze moral gray areas with logic and clarity.
  • Acknowledge and respect diverse viewpoints.
  • Collaborate with other teams to reach a deeper understanding of the truth.

Representing Holy Cross, our students navigated a series of intense rounds, defending their positions on issues ranging from environmental bioethics to global digital privacy. In a field of 52 international teams, the Holy Cross men distinguished themselves not only through their intellectual rigor but through their commitment to civil discourse, a skill that is more vital today than ever before.
